Interview: Ed Gandia

Ed GandiaHere is the third in our interview series…

We’re interviewing freelancers and consultants, looking for tips about how to outsource the kind of work they do more effectively.

Ed Gandia is a well-known B2B copywriter. He specializes in working with software and technology firms, helping them generate more leads and convert those leads into sales.

We asked him the usual 3 questions:
1. What do you do?
2. What are the biggest misconceptions clients have about the work you do?
3. What is the best piece of advice you could give to a client who was thinking about undertaking this kind of project?

We did manage to get the audio working for Ed’s interview, so here is the link to listen…

He gave some great advice - particularly the part about how the mechanics of copywriting need to take a backseat to knowing your target prospect, getting inside her head, and understanding what matters to her - and talked about how you acquire that understanding and background about the audience.

He pointed out that about half of the time it takes to do a writing project needs to be spent in doing that research - that’s useful information for anyone attempting to develop a budget for doing a writing project.

Ed’s clients include Autodesk, Ross Systems, Aldata Solutions, Demand Management, Servigistics, ToolWatch, Invistics, TechDiscovery and Interactive Softworks. If you need help with a writing project for a tech company, call Ed.
