Join the Freelancers Union
I heard about the coolest organization from a friend of mine in NY. (She runs a company that does eco-friendly home decor - you can check it out at The Nest Store.)
Anyway, she was giving me advice about making the ProResource message as crisp and simple and powerful as possible, and she mentioned an organization called the Freelancers Union as an excellent example.
I visited their website and was pretty impressed.
As someone who has been living in this industry for many years now, I have felt for a long time that the issue of providing health insurance for freelancers is one that desperately needs to be addressed.
Freelancers Union does more than health insurance though - they do disability, life and dental insurance. Plus advocacy. It’s great to have a group out there lobbying on behalf of freelancers.

Interesting tidbit… Freelancers now make up 30% of the U.S. workforce. Pretty impressive…
