Keep Any Promise

I just read a book that was excellent, and I’d like to share it. It’s Keep Any Promise by Karim Ismail.

The title got my attention because I have had trouble keeping promises, particularly to myself. I used to set goals, have the best of intentions, and then do absolutely nothing to move the goal forward. It was very frustrating.

I have been getting much better over the past couple years, particularly this year. But it’s still a struggle.

So I found this book fascinating. It includes a lot of the techniques that I’ve been using - that are working well - and others that I have started using since I read the book. It’s very powerful.

I really like the way it walks you through the steps of defining the goal, looking at how you can measure it, and identifying why you want it. That is a critical step for me. I find when I have a good reason for doing something (not just that I think I “should” do it, but a reason that resonates with me), I am much better at pursuing it. Then you look openly at the obstacles and set up a plan.

If you’re looking for help achieving a goal, this book provides a great roadmap.
