What is an “Easy Project”?

As I’ve been working through the content for the Outsourcing Fundamentals course, I started wondering if there was a way to short-circuit some of the problems people have outsourcing projects.

And, here’s a surprise - I came up with one.

The 4 things you need to do right when you’re outsourcing are:
- pick the right projects to outsource
- get the right person to do the work
- define the project the right way
- get the work done the way you want it (i.e., train and manage effectively)

What I realized was that we could get rid of the first 3 issues simply by pre-defining projects.

What does that mean?

Well, through lots of hard-won experience, I’ve got a pretty good understanding of what kind of work you can outsource and what kind you can’t.

If we pick projects that CAN be easily outsourced, and can be done by a competent virtual assistant (that don’t require special skills or experience to do), and then write up the instructions for doing the work, we’ve just solved issues 1 and 3, and made issue 2 significantly easier.

And if we then provide hands-on workshops where people (either clients or virtual assistants) can call in for help with the project, we’re helping out with 4.

So we’re doing that. Pre-defined projects - which we are calling “Easy Projects” - will be available in ProResource starting next week.

If you’re in the ProResource community - and for the next couple weeks anyone who asks nicely can try the community out for free - you can get access to the pre-defined project instructions and workshops.

We’ll be announcing the pre-defined projects as we add them to the site. So watch this space!
